With the 2025 vintage already underway in many cellars, attention now shifts to the tools that refine and shape the wines in progress. For winemakers looking to enhance fermentation or aging with precision and consistency, Canadell French Oak offers a legacy of craftsmanship combined with innovative adjunct products , now supported by a set of brand-new technical sheets designed to guide every step of the process.

A Legacy Rooted in Oak

The Canadell story stretches across four generations and over 80 years of dedication to French oak.

  • 1939 – Lauriano Canadell fled Franco’s Spain for Southern France, beginning a new life in the firewood and charcoal trade before moving into oak for furniture and cooperage.

  • 1970 – Jacques Jr. Canadell expanded forestry operations and built a second stave production site near Paris, firmly embedding the family as expert merrandiers (stave producers).

  • 1999 – Frédéric Canadell brought new vision to the family business, founding the CANADELL enological line and steering the company toward innovation in cooperage and oak adjuncts.

Today, headquartered in Trie-sur-Baïse in Southwest France, Canadell operates with 100 employees across two production sites. Each step of the process, from forest to finished product, is handled in-house, with artisans applying a “savoir-faire” that can only come from decades of experience and a deep respect for oak as a noble material.

Vertically Integrated Craftsmanship

What sets Canadell apart is full vertical integration. From selecting forests to milling, seasoning, and toasting, every stage is managed with precision and care. This control ensures quality, consistency, and traceability, all qualities that winemakers depend on when working with oak adjuncts.

All products can be fire-toasted or convection-toasted, allowing winemakers to choose the profile that best fits their stylistic goals.

Product Offerings at a Glance

  • Chips

A practical option for quick oak integration, providing flexibility during fermentation and aging.

  • Dominos

Uniform pieces for precise surface-to-wine ratios, offering a controlled oak impact.
