SCHNECKENLEITNER AUSTRIAN OAK

History:

Fassbinderei Schneckenleitner is a fifth-generation Austrian family-run cooperage, located in Waidhofen/Ybbs, at the foothills of the Austrian Alps.

Today:

The entire production, including splitting and seasoning, is managed onsite at Schneckenleitner's new state-of-the-art cooperage, built-in 2022. Casks, Puncheons, and Tanks are made from 100% Austrian Oak from the Exclusive Weilding Forest.

The Cooper:

The cooperage was founded in 1628, and has been in the Schneckenleitner family since 1880. Today, the cooperage is managed by Paul Schneckenleitner, a fifth-generation Master Cooper who has gained invaluable experience working in several Burgundy and Cognac-based cooperages.

Why Austrian Oak:

Particularly Austria's Weidling forest, is known for being tight-grained and low-impact. Puncheons show spice characters, more in the savory spectrum, and bring elegance and Fassbinderei Schneckenleitner – Austria

Thank you to all of those who have included Schneckenleitner Austrian Oak puncheons, casks, and tanks in their cellars over the vintages. Due to high demand and limited supply, Bouchard Cooperages works with Schneckenleitner via allocation and would already like to announce 2024 offerings in case you have an interest in both suppliers.
