DAMY BARREL STATS - PRICE LISTS
Tonnellerie Damy is a third generation cooperage in Meursault, which is managed by Jerome Damy. Jacques Damy, Jerome's father, is Administrator of Les Tonnelleries de Bourgogne, which oversees Tonnellerie Damy and Tonnellerie Billon's operations.
The Damy barrels are well known around the world for aging some of the great wines of Meursault and Puligny Montrachet. Their style is a perfect match with barrel-fermented whites, particularly Chardonnay. This is why you will find Damy barrels in more than 80% of the cellars of the Domaines in the Côte de Beaune.
Damy (and Billon) barrels have received the CTB (Centre Technique du Bois) stamp of approval, which guarantees to wineries and consumers around the world that these barrels meet the highest standards of quality in the industry. Of the more than 40 cooperages in France, only 8 cooperages have been certified by CTB.
News:
Damy recently acquired laser-etching equipment to improve the clarity of their logo and abbreviations. As a side benefit, Damy is now able to laser etch almost any information requested by wineries on the barrel head.
In response to requests from their customers, Damy has adopted a food grade plastic bung closure to replace the traditional wooden bung.
Hand-crafting over 20,000 barrels last year, Damy is expected to reach the limits of its production capacity in 2008.
Recommended varietals for use with these barrels:
- Chardonnay and other barrel-fermented whites such as Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc
- Pinot Noir and other reds, particularly when a round, creamy texture is desired
